Shaunna Burt Sorenson
Shaunna grew up in Richland and Kennewick, Washington, as the oldest of Colleen and Merrill’s six children. Her parents taught her the gospel of Jesus Christ, hard work, and the importance of serving. Shaunna went to BYU where she studied Fashion Design and prepared to be a wife and mother. During her college years she took a break to serve a mission to Arcadia, CA (Spanish speaking). When graduation came without a husband, she moved to southern California to work and date. While dating wasn’t bringing the desired results, her career was doing well. She worked her way up at an advertising agency and after finally earning the office of Account Executive, Heavenly Father inspired her to leave California and return to Utah. After a “leap-of-faith” move and six months of interviewing in Utah, she finally landed a wonderful job in marking and product development at Nu Skin International. A few years later, Shaunna finished the BYU Executive MBA program and her father was able to attend her graduation just months before his death in 1997. A favorite memory was in the spring of 1998 when Shaunna and her mother traveled to Egypt and Israel with a BYU program. This memory is all the more valuable with the heartbreaking loss of her mom to cancer in 1999. Currently, Shaunna is employed by dōTERRA® International as the Director of Global Product Marketing and loving it.
Keith grew up in Smithfield, Utah, served a mission in Anaheim, CA, and graduated from Utah State University. He works in SLC as an office manager for Nelson Refining. Keith and Shaunna were introduced when their two good friends married in 2004. Their first date in July 2005 was so good that it lead to another and another, an eventual engagement, then finally a wonderful family gathering for their sealing in the Salt Lake Temple, performed by Thomas S. Monson (who had been Merrill’s mission president) before he was called to be prophet. While getting married later in life was a little nerve racking, it has proven to be the greatest blessing ever. Keith and Shaunna share many interests in common, not the least of which is a love of travel. Together they have been to Machu Picchu in Peru, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Italy, Scotland, many trips to England (their favorite destination), and several cities in the U.S. And they continue to live happily ever after….
